Here are some photos I shot the last few weeks. Some were taken in Darmstadt – Hessen, some in Grünberg, some in Frankfurt and some in Austria. There are also some local street-art photos as everybody should support their local scene. I was too lazy to sort or categorize all pics as I simply wanted them to be online somehow on this page, so here they are unsorted, uncatogorized but ready to be watched and commented.

Some days ago I went to Berlin once again. This time with two of my mates from Darmstadt. We had tickets for the Bloody Beetroots @ Maria am Ostbahnhof on friday the 12th. The concert itself was absolutely stunning as you can see on this video.

Most of the time we were wandering around Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg. I didn’t make a lot of photos because one time I forgot to take my spare battery with me and the other day I left the SD Card in the laptop. But here you go with the pictures I managed to make ;-)

This September I went on a trip to berlin with some people. We visited some friends where we also stayed for some nights and drank a lot of wine in the evenings. We stayed there for a total of four days. On saturday we went to the “Freedom not Fear” demonstration for more privacy and less surveillance. It was pretty cool and lots of open minded people have been there.

A big part of the crowd belonged to the german “Piraten Partei” and they also organized a large truck with loud music. It kind of felt like being at the Love Parade being near the truck and the overall atmosphere was really cool. Everybody had fun except the police. Probably you heard about the poor guy who got beaten up by them just because he asked for a police men’s ID.

Apart from the demonstration we were exploring Berlin without a certain destination just walking around, visiting certain spots and hanging around in cafés or bars.

As usual the pictures aren’t photoshopped but left in their original state. If you need higher resolutions without jpg compression or want to use my work commercially feel free to contact me.

Some time ago my mother asked me to take some photos at the dance event of the Laubach Dance Studio, where she takes lessons and dances – as a free time activity. I didn’t have time to prepare or take a look at the location I was going to take the photos.

The lighting conditions were quite bad as there was only a very dimmed light which changed a lot during the performance. Trying to take the pictures without a flash to accomplish more natural colors wasn’t easy. Especially as I wanted to take good pictures that didn’t look too blurry.

This summer I went on a spontaneous road-trip across Eastern-Europe with my ex-girlfriend. We planned to go to the Melt-Festival, drive on to Prague and stay there a couple of days and then move on to Weidental (Brebu Nou) in Romania where we stayed for one week. After that we drove off through Hungaria and went to Vienna for a couple of days after which we went back home to Germany.

Melt!-Festival – First Stop

We started at the Melt!-Festival. It was really cool, except the weather was kind of bad on friday which is why we missed Trentemoller and Moderat. That was really sad as these were 2 of the acts we wanted to see most.

On the other hand we met some really nice people there and the acts we saw were really good. Digitalism was playing live and it was absolutely awesome. I kind of lost track of all the bands and DJs we saw, but Aphex Twin, The Whitest Boy Alive, Ellen Allien, Paul Kalkbrenner where really cool ;-)

There are no photos from the festival itself as I couldn’t take my camera on the festival but only from the life on the campsite.

Prague – Second stop

The next station on our trip was Prague, where we arrived in the middle of the night, without a GPS or any idea how to find our hostel. After driving through the city without much of an idea we finally found our The Czech Inn Design Hostel and it was really stunning. We explored the city the next days visiting some of the typical spots like the Carls Bridge and the Rajin but stayed there just as long as we had too. Wandering around the “real” Prague and the outer circles was much more interesting and the Spy-City Map was really helpful.

Weidental / Brebu Nou – Third stop

A little exhausted after some days of wandering around we drove off to Romania. We visited some of my relatives and then went to our house in the mountains where we stayed for a week. It was really relaxing with not much more to do than shooting some photos, cooking and wandering around.

Vienna – Fourth stop

Our final stop was Vienna were we also stayed in a famous hostel, the Hostel Ruthensteiner. Again we didn’t visit the first district, but explored mainly the 5th, 6th and 7th as they were much more interesting and alternative with a lot of small shops and loads of Street-Art everywhere.

This is just a small compilation of the photos I shot. All photos also available at much higher resolutions and without jpg compression or watermark on request.

Club Mate Organ CommercialWhile staying in Vienna for a couple of days this summer I saw this funny poster at a bus stop near Lerchenfelder Straße. It says “31% aller Menschen werden im Schlaf wichtige Organe entnommen – Bleib besser wach!”. In english “31% of people lose their organs in their sleep – better stay awake.”

As it seems a lot of nerds like this poster and so here it is at a higher resolution. If anybody knows where to get these posters please let me know as I already got an Email asking for exactly this information. I am going to contact Club Mate Austria myself but if anybody knows it let us know :-)

Feel free to distribute. Like all my photos it’s published and licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial License. If you need higher resolutions or want to use my work commercially feel free to contact me.

Reboots seem to be kind of trendy these days (hey, even Star Trek got one). So I decided to do a complete redesign of my website. You could visit the old site under schischa.cc like this one. In contrary to this one the old site was planned mainly as a blog with some subpages for photography or projects. I never really finished it and was too lazy to write some more or less intelligent articles for the blog. Articles about linux software or other stuff regarding net activism or software were published at my pals from the geekosphere anyways.

Actually I was planning a complete redesign for quite a while aiming to concentrate on photos and projects and keep the blog just as a subpage. If it kind of hits me and I’ve got the feeling I have to write about something so goddamn important I’m still able to do that ;-)

Now you can see the result of my ideas on this website. If you haven’t visited the old one (why should you have, there wasn’t much on it) yout can see the difference on this screenshot:

schischa.cc - rebootschischa.cc - old style

For now I didn’t import the old articles as they’ve been written in german and I want to keep this website english only.

There isn’t much more to tell at the moment except that there’s a lot more to do. In the near future I’m going to upload some more pictures for you and make some minor changes on the design.

So stay tuned…

Hello World

And finally here is the first post on my new portfolio/blog. Of course it’s hello world.
